[Book Review] Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

Title : Before I Fall
Author : Lauren Oliver
Rating : 4.7/5
470 Pages

What would you do If you had to repeat the same day over and over again before the death comes? What would you do? Who would you confess to? And how far you would do to save your life?

Samantha Kingston has it all; looks, popularity, perfect boyfriend. Friday, February 12th, should be just another charmed day for her but it turned out to be different. Since the accident that occurred on that day she woke up to the same Friday morning. At first, she thought it was just a so-called de javu moment but then she realized it wasn't. What would she do?

I can say that this novel really moved me. It makes me think that life is not about just for popularity. We have to look closer to what we miss and what we really need. It also makes me realize that we can't be ignorant to another people. We have to be considered to them.

To be honest I didn't really like Samantha's character in the beginning. I thought she was just another mean girl but I was wrong... As the story went by I recognized who Samantha really was. She was just blinded. But better be late than never. And I ended up hating Lindsay at the end. She just asdfghjkl.....

I really like the part of her conversation with Anna Cartullo, who she never had spoken a word to. And the time Samantha spends together with Kent. Finally, you realize it gurl! Kent is just perfection with all of his weirdness.

In the story Samantha will also realize who she really loves, Alex or Kent? Her boyfriend or her weirdo childhood's friend?

I'm sorry Lauren Oliver... I didn't give you a perfect score. You know what? Because you don't make Samantha end up with Kent! (Oooops... SPOILER!)

Maybe you can afford to wait. Maybe for you there's a tomorrow. maybe for you there's one thousand tomorrows, or three thousand, or ten, so much time you can bathe in it, roll around in it, let it slide like coins through your fingers. So much time you can waste it.

But for some of us. there is only today. And the truth is, you never really know....

"You'll have no choice but to tear through this book!" - Jay Asher, Thirteen Reasons Why's author.

So, hurry read this book!

[Book Review] If I Stay by Gayle Forman

Title : If I Stay
Author : Gayle Forman
Rating : 4/5

It is a story about Mia's soul that caught between life and death which forced her to make a decision she should take, to stay or to leave. She once had a beautiful lovely family, a good nature father, an accentric mother and a cute brother. But everyone's gone except her because of a car accident. If she chose to stay, there would be no mom or dad or Teddy? If she chose to leave, what about Adam or her grandpa and grandma?

Personally I got curious after reading its synopsis since I've never read a story about somebody's soul flying around looking at her own body lying on the hospital's bed. So, I searched it from one bookstore to another /okelebay. Finally I found it.

For me the storyline is quite amusing. But basicly the story centered about Mia's memories and how those memories involved in her decision making. As you read you might feel bored with Mia's attitude that the author pictured her. Mia is too fragile and too depend on Adam I think... but you just can't stop reading it 'cause of some reasons.

The way Gayle Forman wrote the story is.... I adore her. There are some quotes that brought me to tears too /hiks. For some people whose mother language aren't English would find this book easy to read. Though it was the first 'menye-menye' book that I've read I didn't feel giddy while reading it. I enjoy it so much.

My favorite characters in this novel are Adam and Grandpa. Adam is such a sweet sweet boyfriend. He is so kind and well-natured though he's a bit dramatic. And.... Grandpa. Gandpa is such a wise old-man. I even teared up when he told Mia to stay. He's a great man.

So, wanna read?
